Our man on the ground is Daniel Paul. Dan will collect you from the airport arrival lounge in Nadi and take you directly to our boat, or to any Nadi or Lautoka hotel or resort. No matter how hard we try, we can't manage to convince Dan to take a break, so you can bet your last dollar that regardless of the time, day or night, you'll be greeted by Dan's friendly smile. Dan has been working alongside Octopus for many years and offers our guests great rates and an extremely reliable friendly service.

Every employer would love to have someone like Dan on the team. Dan's enthusiasm, willingness to help and the seemingly never ending ways he goes the extra mile to help our guests, makes him a wonderful asset. Dan offers comprehensive sightseeing tours or guided shopping excursions - why pay "vavalangi" prices when Dan can negotiate local rates for you?

Dan can be contacted directly, or the staff at Octopus would be happy to make a booking on your behalf ,so whatever you're up to, before or after your stay at Octopus contact Dan for all your local transport, sightseeing and shopping needs.

The Garden of the Sleeping Giant

A short drive off the main road between Nadi & Lautoka is the apty named Garden of the Sleeping Giant, it's an extremely popular excursion.  Remember to bring plenty of film and as it's a subtropical garden with still water features, bring along some insect repellent as the local mosquitos love tourists!

The Garden of the Sleeping Giant is open daily from 9 a.m. to sunset. Visitors, who arrive in taxis or minibuses, are greeted with papaya and fruit juice at the visitor center where guides await to lead them around the grounds.

It's a gradual uphill walk up a wide trail that ends at the lily pond.  A short drive north of Nadi, many tour companies include it in their itineraries. The Garden of the Sleeping Giant was established in 1977 when the late Raymond Burr, a resident of Fiji, opened his private collection of orchids to the public.

Soon, other private collections were added, along with flowering tropical plants and trees.  Eventually, a commercial garden was cultivated and today, flower sprays from the garden are exported to a number of international markets.

The gardens gained some fame when they were featured on a PBS segment of "Victory Gardens".
